Fearfully and wonderfully made

Happy Mother’s Day.  Children are truly a blessing from God and they are indeed fearfully and wonderfully made.

Her children rise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Proverbs 31:28 Continue Reading…

iPads in the Classroom

As you know, I’m in grad school.  GA!  I can hardly believe it myself.  In truth, it is a ton, A TON of work but I absolutely love it–and I’m not just saying that because I’m FaceBook friends with several professors.

My great, big, huge final project for one of my classes this semester is to create a Webinar (think seminar, but on the web)  with two other teachers from my co-hort.  We’ll be hosting this Webinar tomorrow, April 30th at 6:00 pm EST.  It’s on using iPads in the classroom–and it’s FREE!!  Here’s a little sneak peak of the slides:

Anyone can attend–if you’re a classroom teacher of any kind, a home schooler, or even “just” a parent, there will be something for you in this Webinar, and I’d love for you all to attend!  It will last about 45 minutes and “coming” to the Webinar is easy.

Just click on this link at around 5:55 EST tomorrow evening and I’ll take care of the rest!  You can join from any computer and you don’t need any special software.  I’d love to see some friendly “faces” there tomorrow night–please come!!

Ladies Room Fashion Show

Not my most inspired outfits this week.  I wish it had been warmer for this “wearing all skirts/dresses” thing–I may have to extend it into May a little bit!

20120427-201343.jpg

Top: Plato’s Closet
Skirt: New York & Co. (old, old, old)

I’m holding my hair to keep it from flying up and looking strange.  I thought the two pieces looked a little weird together, but sometimes, you just grab the first things you see that kinda sort go together.  Hence, this outfit.

20120427-201403.jpg

Sweater: New York & Co. Outlet
Dress: Goodwill
Leggings: Wal-Mart
Shoes: TOMS

While I think this outfit is adorable, it’s probably not my most professional attire.  I wore it a couple of weeks ago and threw it on in a hurry Monday morning.  It’s all cotton.  I love cotton.

20120427-201426.jpg

Top: Stole from PJ
Dress: Goodwill

Another outfit that I’ve been wearing a lot lately.  I just love this dress.  I always get a ton of compliments on it.  It’s the perfect length for me, which is rare for a full-length dress because I’m super short.   I love it.

Top: Goodwill
Dress: Goodwill

Yet another “I threw it on in a hurry” outfit.  I wanted you all to  see my pretty purple flowers, so I posed by them.  Matt said I was being awkward with my hands, so I asked for two coffee mugs, referencing one of my favorite Alec Baldwin moments on 30 Rock.  Hilarious.

Bottom Layer Top: Target
Top Layer Top: Goodwill
Skirt: New York & Co (like a million years ago–or at least 2 babies)

My pint-sized photographer took this shot for me, and he told me how to pose, so I had to use this picture.  He’s so precious.  I love that even though he’s not in the picture, it makes me think of him.  This outfit is okay, I really love the color of the top–check out the next photo:

Top: JC Penny
Skirt: Wal-Mart
Shoes: TOMS (in my hand)

Yeah, so it wasn’t until I was working on LRFS that I realized that I wore almost the exact same outfit two days in a row.  Turquoise shirt, jean skirt. Yup.  If any of my students noticed, they were too polite to say anything!  Why am I standing on my kitchen counter??  When I walked in my back door, a wasp came in with me.  Matt shooed it over to the corner of the kitchen and I climbed up on the counter and smashed it with my shoe.  Shoes that double as fly swatters–now that’s a multi-tasking wardrobe!!

Sorry it’s a day late, happy weekend, folks!

Ladies Room Fashion Show will go up tomorrow, but for now, enjoy more photos from my pint-sized photographer, The Flash

Rickshaw Bagworks Mini Zero

I have a slight obsession with bags and purses. I used to beat myself up about this, but now I just switch purses everyday. This works for me and I don’t really mind it. I have date night purses, “out with the kids” bags, purses I carry to school, church, the grocery store……but I didn’t have a great bag to take on a bike ride until my sponsor, Rickshaw Bagworks sent me this little baby.

Rickshaw Bagworks Mini Zero Messenger bag is perfect for a mom on-the-go on a bike!

20120425-172947.jpg

This bag is perfect to throw a wallet, my iPhone, a little lip gloss, and some hand sanitizer before dashing off to the park, the library, one of our cool local restaurants or tee ball practice.

20120423-231222.jpg

The fabric is sturdy enough that I don’t worry about it getting gross at the park if I set it down or ripping if I should happen to fall. Not that I’ve ever fallen off my bike ;) .

20120425-175633.jpg

The bag is designed with two sections on the inside–I wouldn’t really call them “pockets,” they’re more like sections.  I use the front section for any papers or whatnot that I need when I’m out.  It seems like I’m always being handed something, and this is way more convient than shoving it into my pocket.

20120423-231245.jpg

The good people at Rickshaw sent me one made with a fabric called “Picadilly” which I think is especially appropriate. They have all kinds of adorable spring patterns and prints available for this messenger bag.  You get to choose your own “binding,” too.  This one is brown, but a different color would totally change the look of the bag!  You should really go check out all their cool color combinations–they’re endless!!!!

That green print would make an EXCELLENT Mother’s Day present, I’m just saying (hint, hint, Mr. Dilley).

20120423-231200.jpg

I usually wear it across my chest like this. The bag is lightweight and I barely know I’m wearing it once I have it on. Because it’s a “zero messenger” bag, it was made with as little waste as possible. That’s super cool, too.

20120425-172955.jpg

Overall, I highly recommend the “Mini Zero Messenger Bag” from the Rickshaw Bagworks Company. Made with little waste from lightweight, sturdy-but-cute materials it’s the perfect little bag for quick outings on the bike!

Don’t forget, Rickshaw is offering 10% off your purchase with the code “LIVINGPROVERBSSPRING.”

Beautifying Everyday Life

I recently fell in love with the knock off Crystal Light’s from Great Value. These little babies add a kick to your water without adding a ton of calories. They’re fantastic and they’re relatively inexpensive.  They inspired a very simple DIY project that even a novice can do!

Two Week Update

Strength and dignity are her clothing Proverbs 31:25 (first half)

She does him good, and not harm all the days of her life. Proverbs 31:12

Here’s my progress on my two goals for the month of April:

–Dignity in dress: wearing skirts & dresses all the time. This is going well. I actually love it most days. I have quite a few skirts and dresses for this season, so this is a pretty easy one for me–now if it would just WARM UP!

–Taking care of my husband. This goes better some days than others. Matt and I are both alarmingly busy lately and this has been hard due to logistics. I may keep the same goal for May just so that I can do a better job!

20120423-170502.jpg

Ariel & I did manage to escape to Starbucks for our first little mommy/daughter Starbucks outing!

Posts have been few and far between lately and that’s probably not going to change any time soon. Work, school, and home have been increasingly busy and I’ve struggled to keep up, frankly. I’ll spare you the details because I think writing it all down as a list of things that I need to accomplish over the next month would send me into full-blown panic. I will continue doing the best that I can, and if you’ll hang with me for the next 3 weeks (and maybe leave me a little encouragement), I’ll get back on track. I hope. And if you happen to find me under a desk/table whimpering and eating cinnamon disks/banana Laffy Taffy, just ignore it. It’s just a lot lately, folks. It’s just a whole, whole lot.

Update on the last set of goals:
Did do well

Goals from now until May 13:
Survive.

Ladies Room Fashion Show

….pretty much without the Ladies Room. It’s been so nice outside that I’ve been taking a lot of my pictures out doors this week! Matt’s been gone, so Flash has filled in as my pint-sized photographer. I think he did a pretty good job :)
